Reminisce of Independence Day

It is yet another independence, another reminder that we are ageing as a nation and have gradually gone beyond the aura of golden jubilee climbing towards the 6 decade landmark and towering to being a century old in less than 5 decades. When we look at everything around us, do we cry, laugh, raise our shoulders high or left musing? 54 years and counting and the country's educational sector is an eyesore; 54 years and counting, thousands of citizens still queue at foreign embassies to obtain visas; 54 years and counting, there is no adequate development and hope for sustainable development for posterity. What I decry is that we should point at an achievement each independence day, but that is not the case here. Rather, each independence day, we count our losses and wipe our eyes with the back of our hands. We live in a beautiful country, blessed beyond imagination; yet we suffer because of the country's biggest plague, 'Bad Governance'. Enough said! Let us begin to see a reason why marking our independence as a nation should be a day we all look forward to and not just any other public holiday as we I see it...#Happy Birthday Nigeria..#sad
